Im using Video DVD Maker Free Version 2.3.0.14
Im converting avi files to MPEG 2 so I can burn them to dvd.
Im new to video compression, how do I know if I need any of the codecs or not.
The avi files Im gonna burn have DIVX already installed
Maybe I could use the Nero Digital AVC Video codecs because im using Nero software to burn

I think your Video DVD Maker will include whatever codecs you need. If not, it won't work at all and you'll know pretty quickly.

yes Im asking do I need them, theres about 13 video and 10 audio to select.
I guess these are the codecs I have already installed on my pc.
Or I can choose to not have the box checked and none will be used. -
Just try with what you've got or are the defaults the app wants to give you. You can always go back and install more codecs should you need them. Installing everything has been known to make problems of its own.Originally Posted by wesburnsco86
Basically, if you can play your source file now in a media player on your PC you have all you need.
