    Hi

I have the Q35/781 Philips DVD player and im confused about the sound configuration.
I already downloaded the model users manual, but is not the same one.

My DVD plyr in the rear have the following conectors:

    Video: Y/Pb/Pr , S-Video and Composite

Audio: L-R , Optical , Coaxial and here is my doubt..... has Fr Fl Sr Sl SW C, all the conectors for 5.1 audio set up.

My DVD have DTS and ProLogic, and Prog Scan

My question is when i connect a speaker in the FR or any of those conectors, doesnt sound loud, this let me know that this audio outputs, are not amplified....but then WHAT IS THE PURPOSE of this Audio Outputs, how can i get the major benefit out of them?????????

    Thanks in advance.

They are provided for amplifiers/preamplifiers that utilize those connectors (or for self powered speakers).

You most likely just need the optical or coaxial digital input.
