Hi,
I have got a Humax 9200 PVR and I can download the .TS files to my hard drive without any problems, I can view the recorded files using VLC player, and can convert them to MPEG2 using either VideoRedo or HDTVtoMPEG2.
This is all fine however they are on the rather large size and I would like to store them on either DVD as I am running out of hard drive space on both my desktop and PVR.
I have tried converting them to VCD, DivX AVI, Real Media, Windows Media but for each type of conversion I perform the audio goes out of sync and this is not good. I have used MainConcept, TMPGEnc 2 and Express 3, Windows Media Encoder, Real Converter, XMPEG but all are not keeping the sync correctly. I have even tried importing the MPEG 2 into ULead DVD Factory but I still get audio sync problems from the final dvd created.
I want to be able to convert them to a nice smaller size in the least amount of time as I have alot of programs recorded that need converting. If anyone has any ideas of what I can try to combat the audio sync problems or any other applications I can try then I would love to hear from you. Thanks for your time. Paul Diston

My first guess would be that you have some missing frames on the video and when you convert, they are skipped and the length of the video and audio turn out different. They may not be obvious when you play back the original file.
You may be able to check for missing frames with VirtualDub Mod, though I haven't tried it with .TS files.
And what kind of sync loss? Gradual loss or the same amount of error throughout the video? Same amount can be corrected by a offset of the audio to the video. Gradual is what you may get with missing frames. You may be able to check the audio/video lengths after you re-encode with a program like Gspot 2.60 to see if they are the same as the original.
What format is the original audio? I assume PCM or MPEG-1, layer2 or maybe AC3? That probably rules out VBR type audio as the problem. But Gspot will tell you if it is VBR also.
