Systems: ffmpegX 0.09w_r5 on OS 10.3.9 w' QT 6.5.2 on PPC 2x2.5 no VPC
Plan: Burn subtitles (using old binaries to make font choices work) then recode to XVID ffmpegX (with newer binaries) for standalone player compatibility.
Problem: Source avi has vbr mp3 48K Hz - not standalone player compatible.
Tried: Plan results in delayed audio after converting to cbr mp3. Extracting mp3 alone to recombine with no sound video file results in different audio duration as compared to video file. Using Add Audio results in ffmpegX working without making any progress after two hours.
Question: Has anyone solved an issue like this? How?

Never mind. On the umpteenth attempt I finally hit on the right combination. In the interests of any hits by way of search:
1) Encoded video and subs to mpeg4 with passthrough sound on the old binaries;
2) Encoded mpeg4 to xvid-ffmpeX with passthrough video but reencoding sound to cbr-mp3 on the newer binaries.
At least that's what I think I did (can't be sure any more after so many attempts). Attempts to separate and recombine audio were all failures; using passthroughs yielded a peach of a result. Does that sound right?
