Monitar to projecter

I've seen some things at my school that allow the teacher to hook up their computer moniter to their projecter so you can see what their doing in real time. I wanted to get one because it is difficult to burn every single movie and some movies don't support burning, but I don't know what it's called or where I can get one. Deos anyone know what it's called?

It would just be a cable, perhaps with a splitter box.
