Hi there! This is my problem:

I have spent more than 2 weeks trying to encode the movie Titan AE with English Languaje and Spanish subtitles. I have tried to do it with different applications and these are my results:

FlaskMPEG 0.594: Just the English Languaje without subtitles
FlaskMPEG 0.6: English Languaje and only English subtitles
DVDx 1.6: DVDx crashed when I click OK in the Input Settings window (as if some file were missed).

I'm trying to encode this movie from my HD, and I have ripped the whole movie using the SmartRipper 2.35 and 2.41, as well as the DVD Decryptor 3.0.0.9

Hardware: Compaq Presario PIII 1GH 512 RAM with at least 10 GB of HD free, running under Windows ME (Spanish version).
Software: DVDx v1.6, ForceASPI v1.7 (and I have also a bunch of encoder software installed: FlaskMPEG 0.594 and 0.6, SmartRipper 2.35 and 2.41, DVD Decrypter v3.0.0.9, etc.).

Could somebody help me to solve this problem? I will thank you a lot.

Hope to hear from anybody soon.

    Best regards,

    Cesar Villanueva

Why don't you try it like this:
    1 - smartripper
    2 - DVD2AVI
    3 - VFAPI
4 - Virtual Dub (with Vobsub as subtitle filter)
    5 - TMPGEnc

You can find excellent guides on this site or on:
    http://www.flexion.org

This will take you less than 2 weeks, better quality of picture and subtitles, and much more flexibility.

    Hi, it's me again.

I have encoded this movie to VCD as described above. I have encoded it a second time to SVCD using DVD2SVCD, with subs and dual language.

I've had no problems with it.

Thank you for check this problem for me. I have been reviewing the DVD to VCD Conversion Guide from http://www.flexion.org, as well as downloading the software needed to do the conversion. After read your last reply, I have no doubt I will make it.

Now, reading your last comment gave me another question: Can you tell me the way (steps) to convert this same movie to SVCD format? I think it should be almost the same way you told me previously to get VCD, only with some small differences. Could you tell me about the main differences between converting to VCD or SVCD? Will I need another guide/software?

    Thank you so much.

    Best regards,

If you convert to SVCD, you do not need other software, just change the template in TMPGEnc from VCD to SVCD. You just have to make sure that you standalone DVD player supports SVCD.

For SVCD's I use the program: DVD2SVCD. It is a great (if not the best) program for SVCD's. It can do everything for you; ripping, adding subtitles, have 1 or 2 audiofiles, encoding and splitting the movie to fit to a CD. This program uses Cinema Craft Encoder to encode the movie.

If you choose to encode to VCD, then I would suggest to stick to TMPGEnc, as this program is the best for VCD encoding.(this does not mean that SVCD encoding is not good with this program, it looks great. I prefer CCE, but this can be different for another person)
