I'm trying to edit and add metadata/attributes/tags of my WMV videos so they are properly categorized on my Zune (movies, music videos, tv shows). I've tried Windows Media File Editor, but doesn't allow me to add attributes. I know Windows Media Encoder allows me to do what I need when converting a video file to WMV, but my files are already WMV and I just need to edit the attributes.

    How do I do this?

Have you tried opening, editing, then resaving the files in WME.

is there some other proggie out there that edits this information?

(I know I've written this here before...)

You already have what you need:

Windows Media Encoder comes with the Encoder, plus 3 utilities--
    1. WM File Editor
    2. WM Stream Editor
    3. WM Profile Editor

#1 is what you want when adding in Attributes/Tags after the fact.

#2 is what you want when you want to remux or combine A+V streams (but it doesn't "Demux").

#3 is what you want when you want to change the settings on an encoding profile (preset) without having to go into the encoder.

Another very important tool to have in your kit is "Windows Media ASF Viewer 9" that is like a "Gspot" for ASF/WMV files.

WM File Editor only edits the basic metadata/attributes (title, author, copyright, rating and description), but does not add metadata you need for Zune

well i've been using tigotago too, but it's flaky... it appears to have saved attributes/metadata but when i upload to the Zune it doesn't file the videos like it's suppose to, as if the tags weren't written/saved to the video file. it only works sometimes.

plus sometimes the values don't stick when editing in the program

    any other ideas?
