OK, I wrote a couple weeks ago about ripping and burning my DVD's with mac the ripper and popcorn. I figured it out and got it all working. I burned a pretty big disc, maybe around 7GB with popcorn so it could be compressed to fit on a 4.7 GB disc, but the quality is not good at all. I watched it on my laptop and the first thing I notice is the sides of the screen are squeezed in so it's black on the left and right almost like the black bars on the top and bottom of movies. Then the next aweful thing is the picture looks terribly pixalated, it's not clear at all. Is this all because of the compression? I thought the quality is supposed to be retained. What else can I do or what haven't I done? Thanks!

Can your drive burn a DL disc? You can find out in
System Profiler/Disc Burning. If so, spend the $2 or
so for a Verbatim "+R" double layer disk. No
compression needed.Al Bloom -
Thank you for the options. The newest (and most expensive) version of DVD2OneX also burns, right? That is why I didn't like it before, at least Popcorn does both.
Also, what about Toast 7? Is that any better?
And I've thought about DL discs, but they are so expensive...but this is all good food for thought. Thanks again!
