It really depends what he play them with ?
If the disc are not played back thru hi-fi speakers or headphone, then the different won't be that great.

Just found this thread and found it very interesting, I have recently started listening to dvd audio discs , although only in DD 5.1 format as my dvd player doesn't support dvd-a.
So finding information of the possibilty of converting vinyl to an audio format of higher quality than cd-a is my aim at the moment, can anyone point in the dirrection of usefull reading ?

DVD's audio supports uncompressed PCM stereo, that is very common among rock concert DVDs from The who, Led Zeppelin, U2...
This approach preserve the most sonic qaulity. If you like them, then that maybe the way to go for you.
