Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but heres my question... I have been trying to compress all my Fraps videos with no successI can't get the video 100-200MB and keeping the quality for the life of me. Every Video ends up to be 500MB - 800MB+. I would love to make these videos around 150MB+. I used Vdub and Adobe Premiere Elements 3 with Divx and WM9 Codecs.
Here is the recent video I have been working on...
Souce:
12.5gb Fraps movie recorded at 50FPS
6mins 30secs
960x600
No audio
The quality of the Fraps video is as sharp as the game itself.
I added 2 audio tracks on the video when I compressed it and left it at the default speed for them. Wav for Vdub and mp3 for Elements 3. I tried compressing from ranges 400 bitrates to as high as 5k bitrates. It's either the quality is really bad or the file is too big. Here are the setting I use when I compressed:
960x600
Constrained
2-pass
25-30 FPS
What are the settings do you guys prefer to compress with? It's a 6min 30secs video and I just can't seem to a reasonable size![]()
Here are my system specs if it helps:
Athlon 64 X2 4600+
7950Gx2 Gigabyte
1024 Ram
THANKS!

lower the resolution to 480x300 and you will get a vid that is about 20% of the size.
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.

edit: Another question, does it matter how big the source is? Is this what is causing the problem? My source is 12.5gigs big and is this the reason why I can't compress my video down to a reasonable size and keeping the quality? -
960x600 3000kbps 25fps should be around 150 MB and look perfect if the source quality is good. Maybe try XviD instead of DivX. And check the divx forum and doom9 forum for more information.
No the source file size doesn't matter. -

Last set up I tried on adobe premiere elements 3 was..
WMV9
Constrained
3000kp/s
4000kp/s peak
keyframes 1-2
Audio unconstrained (default, I think it was 44hz or something like that)
960x600
2-pass
25fps
The results I netted was around 1.7gb - 1.8gbs file. I am not sure what is wrong.
