Hi,
I've been looking everywhere for something to capture video in high-def while I'm playing my xbox 360.
As I understand, it's only possible with a dvhs recorder, but what about capture cards for the computer?
I'm not 100% sure that the xbox delivers digital output (I don't have much experience in that area), but it can deliver HDTV quality up to 1080i.
Doesn't any pci capture devices have component in so I can record this?
I tried to buy a component -> scart adapter to use on my dvd recorder, but I didn't realise that it just had 525i or something.
Edit:
Forgot to mention that I'll be only using it to record xbox 360 video so it just needs to have component in, and not cost more than $800.
Thanks

HD output options are
Analog component YPbPr (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i*)
VGA - progressive computer resolutions
(with XBox VGA adapter cable)
* 640 x 480
* 848 x 480
* 1024 x 768
* 1280 x 720 (equivalent to 720p)
* 1280 x 768
* 1280 x 1024
* 1360 x 768 (typical resolution for wide screen LCD -TV)
Good luck recording from either. No consumer level capture cards exist. Analog component to D-VHS should work.
*1080i is upscaled from 720p. -
Because of an fcc ruling about digital capture cards it is currently illegal to make one of theses cards in the US. Something that may be a good solution is a dvd record like the ones found at walmart for near $100. These recorders have hi-def markings but im not familiar with the workings of the systems. At very least it should be able to make copies at dvd quality.

or just get a component HD capture card - though the above option is cheaper slightly ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
