I have a movie file captured from a DV cam that I wish to edit on my MacBook Pro. What I want to do is take a portion of this clip, add a jog / shuffle effect (i.e. move the clip backwards and forwards) and save this as a neew movie file.

I can get the effect that I want when playing back the file manaully. Is there anyway I can "record" this playback to a new file ? Any other options ?

    Thanks

  2. One option is to capture the video from the cam while it is jogging.

Split the clip at the start and end of the portion of the clip you wish to have run backward and then forward. Duplicate that clip twice (so you have that section three times). Position the two extra clips immediately after the first clip. Reverse the second clip. Now the video will play through and, when it encounters the second clip, play backwards. The third clip is there to then play forward. Done.
