  1. Hi guys. I have a VHS movie that is jumping(or - jittering like hell) in some segments of the movie.

Is there a way to fix it? If so - is there anyway to fix it without having to invest much more money(AKA - buying a TBC)?

    Would appreciate your help.

    Guy.

Not really the best cure, but you could try a anti-shake filter in VirtualDub or VD Mod, depending on the format of your video. VD and it's variants only output versions of AVI, not MPEG. But the program and the filter is free: http://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm

You would want to cut out the 'shaky' part and just work on that. Try a short representative clip and see how it does.

deshaker will work well if it's shaking back and forth/up and down just a little bit. The process takes a long time but can produce good results.

  5. My JVC VCR has a stabilizer built in that will stop that sort of problem. Does it in real-time too.

I have a not so good LG vcr.. no JVC here..

I believe the Tracking is set to Auto Tracking. How can I change it?

Do you think it will fix the problem? Since this is a 4 hours movie(Long play) and only 30 mins are jumpy...

  9. Jumping is typically caused from a stretched video tape, it's especially bad if it was recorded in ep mode. Auto tracking is ok for SP, but not for ep stuff.

  10. It was probably the Auto Tracking that caused the jumping, because the tape seems to work fine on my tv set, before converting to digital.

So how do I tune the tracking? I looked in the manual and found nothing about it.

Z-C, some VCRs use the channel up/down buttons during playback for tracking adjustments.
