    Hi there,
I have a Iiyama 19" widescreen LCD (PLE1900WS) with up to 1440x900 resolution.
and would like to watch movies straight from a dvd player on the LCD.
I looked at some cheap dvd players with vga out so i could connect it directly to LCD's vga in.
The question is, what resolution goes out of the VGA socket ?
Is it the PAL resolution of 720x576, or something else?
And what will happen when playing widescreen dvd through the VGA connection to my WS LCD,
is the picture sent as 16:9? What resolution is it then?

    Thanks

  3. If the DVD specs say VGA out, it probably has a resolution of 640x480, which is standard VGA spec. Most NTSC DVD's have a resolution of 704x480, so it's possible that the manufacturer may design the output to match the DVD spec. In either case, the resolution should be better than an RCA jack or S-Video connection. I think Component video out would be similar to the VGA, with 480 lines of resolution.
