    I have three .avi files.
My dad did some 3d movies and had 3d studio max turn them into .avi files.
Problem is, they are like 2-3 minutes long and 2-3 gigs.
What is a good program to use to keep good quality but knock the size down to a reasonable place where I can upload them to a website and have viewers download them?

AutoGK to get avi files using Xvid, or windows media encoder to get WMV files. Depends what your target audience is, and what site you are using. Also, how small do you want them ?

It depends what video format you prefer,

.avi DivX or XviD = Dr.DivX, AutoGK.

.wmv Windows Media Video = Windows Media Encoder or Windows Movie Maker

.flv Flash Video = Flash Professional, On2 Flix Encoder, Super

THey are all good for small file size and good quality. You have to test different resolutions and bitrate and see how it looks.

Thanks you two, I will give some of these programs a look.

By chance know anything off the top of your head that will take three avi files and turn it into a dvd with three chapters?

I will most likely have to compress these twice, one at DVD quality and one at web quality.

How big is too big for the web?
What are DVD standards? 30fps? 640x480?

I'll dig through the guides later this afternoon after work and will probably find something.

ConvertXtoDVD will create a DVD with three titles that will play back sequentially. If you want them to act like one movie, load the vobs into TDA using the Add Video option, put them all in the same title, and remove the extra chapter point TDA adds at the beginning of the second two parts.
