    Looking for a simple to use all-in-one dvd ripper that converts to xvid/etc, with a nice interface AND (the key): allows you to EASILY select portions of the video to rip by setting start/stop points while watching the video play (loads the whole main movie in the view window so I don't have to select per-chapter). You know, something my girlfriend could use. Does it exist?

    I expect it to be commercial, thats ok, haven't found any free software like this, and all the commercial stuff I've tried so far has sucked (tiny previews, hard to set tiny start/stop sliders, etc).

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    You might try FairUse Wizard. It's about as easy as it gets for DVD to Divx/Xvid.
