Works only on WAV and AIFF files. Versions for both Windows and OSX

Requires Java JRE 1.5 (Next version promises to be Java Free

See post below to use in command line mode without Java.

Edit - Looks like the Windows portion isn't actually Java dependent. To use the executables only, download http://www.gigavox.com/levelatorDownload/lib/win-binary.jar . Unzip the .jar file like you would any .ZIP or .RAR file. Inside, you'll find the Level.exe and Libsndfile.dll files. Put them in the same folder as the WAV file you wish to process, or place them somewhere in your path.
    Syntax is :

    Level input.wav output.wav

The effect isn't as harsh as some compressor/normalizers out there. Quite natural sounding.

    take care with levelator Soopafresh!
i'm sure that you don't will like the result with musics like "mother - Pink Floyd" where the sound start quiet and have one abrupt change in the levels.
try first with musics that have this condition!

see pictures before and after levelator:

It isn't for music maximizing. The better application is for low dialogue - where you can't hear one person speaking.
