Hi, I'm trying to use VirtualDub to join 2 AVI files. They have different bitrates so I got the MP3 Freeze program. But when I try to join them it says: "Cannot append segment: The audio streams have different formats". Can anybody help me out? Thanks!

To append two segments, they have to be exactly the same. Convert one of the audio files to the same format as the other. You can do a Direct stream copy for the video and full processing with the audio, then save it out and then append them. If the video is different bitrates, you would need to process it also.

If these were 2 parts of one original video, you may have sync problems when you combine them, even after correcting the bitrates. That could happen with a improperly split video, say from the internet.

If your final destination is a DVD, don't join them. Encode them separately to DVD compliant MPEG-2. Let your authoring program do the 'joining' and you may not have to correct all the differences between the two files. This also helps prevent sync problems.
