I am having problems converting a avi file so that I can burn it on a CD-R for a VCD. I used a program called Cucusoft AVI to VCD Mpeg Convert Pro. It converted the files but the sound does not sync with the video. I am a newbie to the VCD's so please be easy on me.

This is the filename that I am trying to convert:

    Heroes.S01E01.HDTV.XviD-LOL

I am using Nero 6 Ultra to burn the mpg onto a disk. I tried using TEMPGnc to convert the file but the file ended up being HUGE, like 1 gig and the sound did not even match it at all, matter of fact, there was no sound. When I used the Cucusoft software, the sound was a little off sync, like maybe 1 or 2 seconds. Also the picture quality was worse once converted. The original file is flawless. The file is only aroud 500,000 kbs and 45 minutes long.

What am I doing wrong?? Please help.

The problem is VCD has MUCH WORSE resoltuion 320x240 if I remember correctly or thereabouts, whereas your XVID should have about 4 times that resolution. So there's NO WAY the quality is going to stay the same.

You can try SVCD but that'll leave you only about 30 minutes of video.

I'd say just burn the file as is onto the CD.

Did you try AVI2DVD? Divx2DVD? FAVC? All are free solutions.

To reinforce however that the resolution will be one quarter that of your avi file, and the bitrate equivalent to about half. There is simply no way to do this without losing quality.

Check the audio with g-spot or avicodec to see if it is VBR MP3. If it is, follow the instructions in this post -> https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1577383#1577383 before processing.
