Hi Condor! I just read your post and I got very interested on your commets. Unfortunately, I don't have any answer for you (since I'm just a "newbie" in this business). But I want to ask you some questios about your topic:
1) Is it possible to encode with subtitles using TMPGEnc?
2) How? (I mean, where can I get a guide to do this?).
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,

It is possible with Virtualdub as frameserver, I found a guide somewhere around here or doom9, stry searching and youŽll probobly find it.
And Condor, IŽve also tried DVDx and the subtitles was in very poor quality. Tried a lot of different setting but was never satisfied. It lokks way better with TMPGEnc -
Hi Jan,
if you want to add subtitles when using TMPGEnc, then you will have to frameserve through Virtualdub first. In Virtual Dub you can use the VobSub filter to add subtitles in the color you like.
The best guide(in my opinion) can be found on: http://www.flexion.org

Generally, there are two (perhaps three if you count DVDx but I don't like it) main methods for using subtitles:
One is to frameserve through Virtualdub to the encoder of your choice (usually TMPGEnc).
Second is to use FlaskMPEG and use a plug-in (or frameserve) -- the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plugin is highly recommended.
I personally prefer the FlaskMPEG option as it is simply a much more elegant process and you can preview the the subtitles BEFORE encoding (to make sure you've selected the correct one). If you do use FlaskMPEG for the purposes of subtitles, I strongly suggest you get FlaskMPEG v0.6 prev1.1 the subtitled fixed version (from doom9.net ).
Also, just about every method of subtitling is described in one of the guides on doom9.net
Regards.
