tmpg dvdauthor error???

hey fellas I had two files that I converted using xilisoft to .vob files, now when I tried to author the first file I got this error:

the video frame rate 25 fps cannot be used with the resolution 720x480.

and:

the video gop is too long.

I'm unsure where to proceed from here.....any help would be greatly appreciated.

First mistake - using crap encoding software that produced NTSC resolution video with PAL framerates.

Dealing with the GOP issue first, there is a good chance you can simply ignore it and the disc will play. TDA can be a little over sensitive to GOP lengths.

The first issue can probably be fixed by using VOB2MPG to demux the video and audio out of the VOBs, then using DGPulldown to apply a 25 fps -> 29.97 fps pulldown on the file. This should get TDA to accept it.

The question is, what sort of quality will you have. If the source was originally NTSC, then converted to 25 fps, chances are it will be jerky in the pans and zooms.

Personally, I would ditch the encoder you have, get something better, and learn how to use it.

The first thing you should read is What is DVD (top left corner of this page), and you will understand why TDA won't author your video.

TDA detected frame rate for PAL and picture size for NTSC. Check your encoding settings.
To correct the GOP problem you usually can run files through VideoReDo or another MPEG editor without re-encoding. TDA also lets you ignore this warning.
