Hello this may be a basic question but thanks anyways so here goes:
I have a video file that was exported from iMovie at full quality and as it stands it is a humongous 700mb file with the extension ".dv"
If you look at the stream info in VLC here is what is says:
Audio Codec is ima4, 1411 kb/s, 44100 Hz, 16 bits
Video Codec is "dvc", 720x480, 29.97000 fps
When I try to convert this file into an Xvid or anything other type of file, the ffmpegx program will accept the file and I get the settings all dialed in for resolution and such, however when I attempt to convert the file, it converts it almost instantly and the resulting file is there but has not content (no video or audio, just a Zero KB file with the correct file name).
Anyone have any words of wisdom for me?

On a side note, I actually did this last night but I used DivX (mencoder) instead of Xvid and it worked fine (I had to deinterlace, but that was the only problem). I didn't have to change the file extention or anyting.
