The latest version of the DIVX converter has Portable,Home Theatre, and High Def encoding. My question is about the High Def.
Does this mean I can convert and then burn movies to get an even better picture on my HDTV?
My player supports and playes the format,so im curious what I can do with this type of conversion.

Also unless the source is HD, then there isn't much point. Think Sigma still have the only HD capable chipset (don't confuse upconverting players), so yeah it is unlikely, but possible that your player supports HD.

Sorry I guess it would have helped if I mentioned my DVD player in more detail..
Its a Samsung HT-P38 Digital Home Theater System. It plays DIVX but dosent say anything about HD anywhere in the manual. Im new to this encoding and trying to see if I can benifit from the DIVX encoder -
I suspect that it will have an upper limit of 720 x 576/480 for resolution, and restrictions on bitrate and other encoding tricks. It's the home theatre profile for you.
Actually, most around here would use the Divx encoder front end anyway. They would either use AutoGK or perhaps Dr Divx2Read my blog here.
