    hey im kind of new to media, im starting a project

    i need to record some commentary and usingg other music tracks to end with a final result in making a cd.

    this is what i have:

    coles 4104 ribbon microphone (bbc)
    m - audio solo firewire sound card etc
    and using adobe audition


    iv installed m-audio, connected the microphone, opened up audition and i dont know how to get the microphone working??

    iv tried testing it on control panel sound settings but nothing?

    why is it not working, help need urgently

    I"m not familiar with that equiptment...but from what I see on-line...
    your sound "card" has a audio level-clip led indicator.
    Does it blink when you speak (loudly) into the mic?
    If so, you will at least know the mic is working and feeding the sound card.
    (even if you can't hear it)...and that will help localize the problem.

    It's a low impedance 300 ohm mic. Needs to go into the XLR input with correct pins connected (XLR 3 pin plug - Pin 1 screen - Pin 2 positive - Pin 3 negative) and mic level.

    I've never used the Solo. Call their tech support.
