    Ok i got my dvd writer only a few days back..... so first i wrote half a movie first in one dvd which took about 1.7 gb,now i want to write the second half in the same disc but it says not writable and asks me to insert another disk... so is thr anything i can do abt it or is it wasted.. rply quickly... thnks!!!

    So if the disk is dvd-r its only writable once????

    yes and no .... a dvdr is writeable once only in the sense that once written it cannot be deleted and then rewritten whereas a dvdrw can (r=recordable .. rw = rewritable) ... however a dvdr can be written to and then have more data written to it at a later time provided there is enough space on the disk, this is called multisession writing .... HOWEVER ... this can only be done with a data dvd .... a video dvd must be finalised (ie., no more data can be written) in order for it to be playable in a standalone dvd player .....also standalone players (or at least most of them) will not recognise multisession disks ... therefore when burning movies to a dvdr the movie(s) must be weritten in one session
