I'm attempting to make a backup of a dvd . Used dvd decrypter to rip it, and copy to dvd
to burn to disc. After decrypting it (all files), copy to dvd said there was no video_ts.ifo file and the burned dvd would probably not work. I used ifoedit to make video_ts.ifo and got no errors from copytodvd to burn disc. The burned disc will work fine in any computer's dvd-rom I can find but not in any standalone dvd players. I've ran across the no ifo problem before and corrected it with ifoedit and the resulted burned disc worked fine in anything.

the standalone players give an error message that says something like this dvd is not capable of playback.

the original disc plays fine in standalone players.

    what am I missing?

Try running your ripped files through dvdshrink and using it to create an image. Then burn with the software of your choice.

DVDDecrypter has not been updated for over a year. Use RipIt4Me (used with DVDDecrypter) or DVDFab Decrypter to rip. Then use FixVTS to eliminate any problems. I then use VOBBlanker to blank out any of the DVD parts I don't want like "Making of ...". This helps eliminate info you don't want so when you use DVDShrink it will not have to shrink as much to get a 7+GB movie on a 4+GB DVDR disk. The less shrinking you do, the less blockiness, and greater quality you will get.

Apparently, my problem was some bad blank dvd-r's . I tried burning the information
to a dvd from the bottom of the spindle and it works fine. The middle is fine too. The bad
ones resided at the top. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

Thanks to those who posted replies to my pathetic problem.
