Multiple video parts

I had a topic on here explaining my situation but it got locked. I have a movie from a back up of a DVD that I PURCHASED (failed to mention that part last time). My DVD is damaged and won't play so now i want to take my backup and replace the damaged one. I can't remember what program i used to back it up with... The problem i am having is the video is in many parts... I.E. [VIDEO NAME].part001.rar, [VIDEO NAME].part002.rar and etc... the rar file contains the same file name and it is the same 700mb... so do i need to get a program that compiles them together or something??? (oh the video files are in avi format) any help is appreciated!

Many programs (WinZip, WinACE, WinRAR) can unrar the files.

i can unzip/unrar thr files... but they all contain the same file that is 700mb... i unrared one and played it... but all i got was audio... do i need to take all the [filename].part[#].rar and unzip them and compile them? i have 45 of those "parts" files.

ok... dumb me... i just opened winrar and added all the "part files" and it is doing what it needs to do... sorry for making myself look like an indiot and wasting your time!

I still think you're full of s**t. You're describing the same files you said you downloaded via bittorrent. Besides, how can you possibly backup a DVD you own to RAR files and not know how you did it? That just sounds ridiculous. You mentioned Superman as the file names in your first post. If it's Superman Returns the movie is now available until 11/28 so I KNOW you are full of crap. A 700MB AVI file split into RAR files is 100% typical of how bootlegged movies are shared via bittorrent and newsgroups. NO ONE backs up their own movies in 700MB zipped AVI files. Not one word you have said so far sounds legitimate.

Well first off... i did not put every detail on the table... It wasn't necessary i thought... but i guess i will have to explain...

I have no idea really about anything pertaining to videos... i had a friend copy all of my dvd's so i would have a backup in case the worst happened... well i messed up a couple dvds in my move from the middle east... so i pulled out my backups and i had no idea what he did to make the backups... he may have done it that way to make & distribute copies...i am not sure... but i know i legally bought the four DVDs i am trying to replace... i thought to see if i could get a copy from a torrent but they were the same...

as for the title of the EXAMPLE... I saw the god damn advertisement on cable tv... I am an honest hardworking citizen/patriot that just got back from Iraq and would like to be thought as a true honest bearin person... I don't believe in the duplication of copy righted material... it is wrong... it is the same thing as theft. I havn't stolen anything in my entire life and would like to keep it that way... i am sorry if for some reason i may have confused anyone and made them think i was trying to copy protected material... like i said... i left out details that i didn't think were necessary... but i was wrong... i am sorryfor that... it just sucks to be accused of something that i am not trying to do... but anyways i figured it out... i guess i can do more than just carry a gun through the deserts of Iraq and almost die for my country... i can figure out how to replace my legally purchased dvd and at the same time get accused of something... stantheman1976 was the one that decided to insinuate that i was breaking the law... he didn't understand my point so i clearly gave him the WHOLE story... his choice of typing insinuates vulgar, profane, slanderous and hateful words. i think he is the one that should be warned. i think this whole mess is stupid... especially for people to stick their noses in other peoples business (I.E. Stantheman and mats.hogberg)

so in short... my posts were to clarify to stantheman my dilema and to state to him that i was not intending to break any law/rule/regulations...

i tell you what... this whole site can bite it cause it seems like i am around a bunch of prudes (some excluded from that comment)... i have talked to some of you and were very nice and helpful... but for the most part you all suck at being a forum for help... more like a forum to police each other on others words and eutaxy... if you all have nothing better to do than to criticize people and their posts then you have nothing to offer society... its a shame... and frankly... if i get another "WARNING" in an email from this site... then oh well... really didn't want to be a F*****g member of this piece of s**t site anyway... You think we are idiots, but we have seen people like you come here MANY times either openly admitting to downloading movies or describing files and backup methods that 99.999% of the time are used for distributing bootlegged movies.

You admitted in your first post taht you downloaded this movie via bittorrent. Then when you were warned about that you made another post describing the exact same files and conveniently said "I don't remember how I backed them up". Now you are saying "a friend backed them up for me". Make up your mind. Again, NO ONE backs up movies in a 700MB AVI file split into RAR parts unless they plan to distribute it illegally. It just doesn't happen. If you're friend backed them up this way then he probably intended on distributing them so he's just as guilty as you.

If you are truly an injured vet I'm sorry for that. However, it does not give you the right to come here and ask about illegally obtained material, change your story mulitiple times about how you got said material, and then go off on me or anyone else when you are called out on it. I said you were full of crap and I stand by that. You think we are idiots, but we know when someone is trying to get help on copying or transferring warez and we will not openly help you when you admit to it like you did originally.
