    Hello,

I have a DVD-R with some early MTV footage that I am having problems with.

It will not play in my players or recorder.. it will only play in "Nero Showtime"...and does so with a "Warning" that the disc contains errors.
But, it will play through all the way in "Nero Showtime" only.

Now here is the problem.. Nero will NOT rip the disc into the computer so I can "Re-Author" it.

Is there a program on the market that can "Plow Through" problem stand alone discs so
that I may create a disc that WILL play on my DVD player.

Dvd Decrypter and DVD Shrink does not like this disc

Sadly this is the only copy of the rare footage that I have.

Do please let me know any ideas, as I have done in the past for this is not working.

    Thanks,

    Peter (Plarocks)

I'm assuming the disk is finalized....

Since this is a homemade DVD then it does not contain copy protection and DVD Decrypter in not needed. Since it already fits a DVD blank then you don't need to use DVD Shrink.

    1. Try a direct Windows Explorer copy of the VIDEO_TS folder to the hdd, then either convert the vobs to mpg or import the dvd video files into your author program like Tmpgenc DVD Author.

    2. Use VOB2MPG directly on the dvd disk and create mpg files on the hard drive.

    3. Use Tmpgenc "Mpeg Tools" and demux the vob files onto the hdd.

    4. Create an ISO image file of the disk on your hard drive then use a program like WinImage to extract the files. Convert the vob files to mpg then go from there.

    Help this helps.
    Good luck.

I wanted to thank you for all the replies. I was finally able to make a copy of the DVD-R that "Worked" all the way through with only a couple minor glitches in the last 2 minutes.

What I did was, I first used "BadCopyPro" to restore the DVD files onto the PC.

I then tried to use the Tmpgenc DVD Author 2.0 software in hopes to author a workable DVD.. but the trial version would not work on my PC. I tried to simply open the program and it would just immeditaly close and never open. I tried to re-install twice.. it simply would not work on my machine.

I then tried the Imgburn software, created the ISO file from the restored "DVD Files" from "BadCopyPro".... I then burned the DVD from the ISO.. and Voila!
A working copy of the MTV DVD-R!

I was itchin to try that Tmpgenc Author as a lot of posters SWEAR by that authoring software.. but I can't use what I can't even open.

I wonder what the conflict was on my machine?
