    I'm trying to convert rm files I got from a friend into DV so I can burn work with them in iMovie then build in iDVD.

    I have tried ffmpegX and i can't remember how to do it. I have all the components installed and the like

    Is there a step by step process in how to od that?

    let me know please!

    Transcoding to DV uses the ffmpeg decoder, not the mplayer decoder. So you may have more luck transcoding to some other format first, using the mplayer/mencoder engine in ffmpegX, in case that mplayer handles your rm file, but ffmpeg doesn't.

    Also, Real Media files come in a variety of versions. The decoders in ffmpegX cannot decode every rm file out there. If you installed reallib correctly and the ffmpegX process log still says something like 'unsupported codec', then you're out of luck with this tool.
