    I am new to this dvd recording lark, I have a dvd-r toshiba dvd/video recorder. Is there a hack that will enable it to record in dual format so the disc will play on any dvd, or is there no such thing and I am being silly?? Thanks

    It would require at the least a firmware upgrade, which would have to come from Toshiba.
