Drop the Xvid into Gspot 2.60 and post a screenshot. Blank out the title if you like. I'm guessing a out of spec audio file. Check also for MP3 VBR audio. TMPGEnc chokes on that.

    And welcome to our forums.

OK, AC3 5.1 audio. Since that's already DVD compliant, you don't need to re-encode it anyway. Just encode the video and add the AC3 back in when you author to DVD format.

If your authoring program can't handle 5.1, you could save it out as a WAV in VirtualDub and either use that to encode along with the video in TMPGEnc or convert it to 2 channel AC3 with a program like ffmpeggui. 5.1 is a little unusual to see in a Xvid.

Even if you found a way to convert 5.1 AC3 to MP2 (which TMPGEnc also can with the help of AC3 ACM codec IIRC) you really have degraded audio experience (if you have a 5.1 audio system) quite some. If the nice persons creating an AVI bother to put in 5.1 audio, you really should honor them by keeping it even if you convert it to DVD.
