can't fix your problem, but i feel your pain... i also have an asus that will present the same problems. as long as you don't turn off the juice to the power supply they will usually keep their settings. so keep the power on and make sure to use an ups.

at least that is the only solution i have found.

  3. If the battery change didn't help then it is the motherboard. I have seen that problem.

Just run one simple test. Measure the battery you removed and the battery you put in. The voltage should be 3.2 volts. It is possible you got a bad one. If the new battery is 3.2 volts and it is properly installed then it is the board.

Yes, it sounds like it could be a motherboard problem or something messed up with the BIOS chip. I'm guessing you made sure there were no shorting jumpers in place for the BIOS and the the battery holder was OK.

I had a problem where the BIOS settings kept changing on a MB, unfortunately never solved it.

EDIT: This might be a longshot, but try reinstalling the BIOS file. Can't hurt to try. Or if there is a ungrade version out there, even better.

Checked the jumpers. Also read the dam asus manual four times to see if I missed something. The bios reset involves some work so it cant be problem. I dont have a multimeter to check the Voltage. Might have to live with it

The major problem is I have a toshiba 36 inch CRT TV. It has a Xvga input which I connect the PC to. Now when the PC boots up fine it shows it on the screen. However when this problem occurs the PC boots into Bios asking me to choose the processor speed, mutiplier etc but when this happens I lose picture on the TV which is in the other room without any PC monitor around. So I gotta disconnect the cable, drag the PC to the bedroom, hook it up and then set bois again.
I have dragged my PC monitor from the bedroom to the living room to set the PC and then everything runs fine until I dont disconnect the power. Well I may have to live with it. Oh did I mention I am trying to run MCE 2005.

    Also another question
The toshiba only shows a 4:3 Picture no matter what resolution I choose with verticle bars on the side since its a widescreen TV. I dont know if its the default for this TV.
I connected TV out which I got running when I had the PC monitor around as well. I could not get the dam thing to work to show 16:9 on this screen. Should I do this by using a resolution which matches 16:9 or does this option present itself in MCE2005 somewhere I am not aware of?

I appreaciate your inputt and thank you for your help
