Hi Guys,
I'm hoping that somone will be able to help me on this? I've just bought a very basic DVD Camcorder & I've just burnt my 1st DVD (whoopiieeee). I've copied the Video_TS file to my hard drive as I just want to convert 2 of the vobs into Xvid so that I can email it to some relatives the other side of the world. To be able to pick out the 2 files I wanted to convert I used SimpleDivx.
It worked great.. The only problem is the rate of compressionThe original VOB file size is 32mg & it compressed it down to 9mb, but for some reason I can't get it any smaller than this. here's the details of the settings I've been using
The length of footage is only 2.17minutes long
Resolution of 704 x 480
framerate is 29.970fps
The audio codec I'm using is MP3
Codec is 2-pass Xvid codec
The clip has 4,105 frames
SimpleDivx automatically compresses the file size down to 9mb min. Even when I reduce the resolution & choose just 1 pass encoding, SimpleDvix seem to automatically do 2 passes even when I change the codec to Divx.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together! :)

One idea:
Deinterlace
Resize to 320x240
2 pass Xvid 210Kbps
128Kbps MP3 audio
Filesize about 6MB for your 2min-17second video file.
Good luck. -
You could also upload your 32 meg file to Youtube or google video, and then send them the link to it. Then they can just go to the page and watch it there.
