I have a Dell flat panel monitor which I am planning to send to the Philippines. Written on the back is 100~240 volt. How can I be sure that it is safe to plug it into 220 volt? Should I trust them or there is a simple way to test it?
The CPU (Dell also) has a toggle switch to adjust to either 115 and 230 volts. This one I can check by putting it on 230 volt. If it does not start up, then maybe it really is 230 volt.

Thanks.
Perhaps I will tell them to first use a voltage converter(step-down) and if it is not available, then they can switch the CPU to 230VAC, pray and plug it and the monitor to their outlet. Electricity is one of the many things that I do not understand so I am bit paranoid. Perhaps I would not worry if it is the other way around. If the equipment will come from there to here.
