Right i have these sony dvd+rw 1.4gb mini dvds that contain my sony cameras recordings.
Now i am wanting to transfer these vob files to my hard drive so i can add a menu to them and simply restructure them using nero on one normal dvd.
I have managed to get the videos off disk 2 and 3 with ease.
Its disk one.
I try to copy the .vob files over using windows explorer it stops about 5% in and says cyclic redundancy check.
I use nero re-encode and i get 2 errors, invalid dvd navigation structure and the vob files have no cells.
I use dvd dycrypter it stops 5% in and just keeps getting read errors and constantly retries.
I use dvd shrink it says dvd shrink out of memory (dont know what thats about)
I have restarted my pc many times to do this so its not a memory thing.
Funny thing is, this dvd will play in windows media player, it recognises it as a disk i can access the files right click on them as well. This disk plays my videos in windows media player and i skip through the chapters and it plays them all.
I should mention there are two .vob files on this disk
What exactly is wrong? CRC, vob errors, but the video will play and it is on the disk!
I have done nothing to edit the disk and it is clean and no scratches.
Please help guys i need this fixing!!
Many thanks in advance,
Daniel

If the disc is physically undamaged - either a bad burn or a bad disc.
Try IsoBuster perhaps? Or DVDFab Decrypter (that handles read errors with more grace than most other rippers),

tried both with no success, they both just hit error,
i dont understnad how it will play though if the disk i damaged in some way -
Players can skip a bad sector or 2 - rippers can't.

You say the video will play. Is that on your pc or in the camera. And, does you camera have any connectors (rca, firewire, usb)

I have the same problem with one disc - plays ok in the player but when reading the files the disc hangs at a certain point. I think the dvd player will skip over the bad part - not sure.
My only recourse is to capture it analog from a DVD player- the bad part will probably get skipped - not much I can do about that.
THe only positive part to this problem is that I would never get or recommend anyone get a DVD camcorder.

Is there any way to capture the video from media player or some other player - would save a lot of time capturing analog.

the dvd will play on my pc, to be honest its not my camera its my mates but i kept the story short for the problem to be simple, but i think it has lots of outputs there were loads of cables in the bag earlier, i might try capturing the image this is going to take a while, any more help appreciated.
