I just finished shooting a film on super 16mm. We are deciding what format to transfer it to for editing. Right now the options are DVCPro HD and HDCAM.

HDCAM has the benefit of native 23.98fps and a full 1920x1080 resolution, however we don't know how much of a hassle it will be to get into my mac and work with it.

DVCPro HD, on the other hand, seems to be a supported codec in Final Cut and we have capture suites at our school. The down side is that it doesn't seem to be quite full frame resolution and is 60i. I would imagine this would create frustrating artifacts for visual fx work and I'd prefer to have something as close as possible to the original footage for encoding progressive dvds etc.

So my questions are these:
1) Has anyone had experience with an HDCAM format workflow, and if so, is it recommended (or feasible) to capture and work with the full resolution footage on a personal computer (powermac dual g5)

2) I have been told that you cannot perform any sort of inverse telecine on DVCPro HD, is this true to anyone else's experience, or does anyone have any other tips for working in this format and preserving quality?

Thanks very much!
Steve
