    Hi,

I am trying to transfer a track from a CD but when I select project import audio a message appears

Audacity cannot open this type of file, Convert it in a format that audacity can import. What does it mean?? Thanks/Fabio

I don't believe that Audacity can read files directly from a CD. You should probably "rip" it to your harddisk first. I like CDex for that. It's fast, easy, and can go to MP3 or wav depending on how picky you are about size vs. quality.

There is a "quick tour" in the CDex's help system.

    Basically...

Put the CD in the drive
Select the drive (if it didn't find it by itself)
hit the "magnifying glass" to have it find out what CD you have
Press either the "extract to WAV" (first button) or "extract to Compressed (MP3)" (second button)
    and watch it work.

You will end up with a bunch of files that are editable in Audacity.
