Ok I have used Dvdshrink and Remake to fit backups on to dvd5. But that is nothing more than removing unwanted data to get your movie to fit with no re-coding. The problem i'm having is for the situations when i'm forced to re-code with cce(a dvd9 source). I can do all that but I can't figure out how to re-author with the original menu's. I have been searching the forums but can't seem to find what i'm looking for. I'm fairly resourceful but frankly I need a little nudge in the right direction. Any help would be much appreciated.

Why not use your current method, but don't use DVD Shrink for compression (use the No Compression setting). Write the results to a HDD folder, then process this folder with DVD Rebuilder ? I used to do this before DVD Rebuilder supported re-authoring, although I only keep a menu if I have room for extras, otherwise I just do a main title only.

Hi-
DVD-Rebuilder is a good way to do it, keeping whatever you want, including menus.
If you wish to do the encoding yourself manually, then when done, author using Muxman. At that point you'll have video, audio, chapters, and subs (if any), but no menu. To get it back into the original DVD, open that original DVD in VobBlanker, highlight the movie to make it appear in the lower screen, highlight it again in the lower screen, hit the "Replace" button, scroll to your newly Muxman authored DVD, give it a destination, and "Process". Then you'll have your reencoded movie together with the original menus and any extras or logos you might wish to keep. -
You guys are putting out fires all over the place for me,lol. Thank you.
