So I'm trying to make a video from various movie clips. So I checked the top sticky in this forum and used keepvid.com to dl files from youtube etc to my computer. Well once I get the file on my computer, the file type just says "file." Then I try to convert the file into mpeg with replay converter but the converter asks for a file extension. What am I doing wrong?

Did you purchase the software or are you using the free demo? With a purchased copy, you can name the file and it is saved in its original format. In your case, that would be flv.

Hm? Purchase what software? The one Keepvid is offering to download things like mms: streams?

dallas!sfan: Keepvid (though I haven't tried it lately, I just use Firefox extensions that don't really use the Keepvid or VideoDownload sites) usually just saves the file to your hard drive, but not with the correct name. Rename the file to whatever you want, and give it the extension of .flv .
