  1. Does anyone on here have mame? I need help. How do you play a game on it? I am interested in downloading MK2.

  2. First things first... MAME kicks ass!

If you are a MAME newbie, I'd recommend getting the MAME32 version. It's a lot more user friendly.

If you insist on using the normal version, then here is what you do...

    1. Read the readme file.

    2. Unzip mame into any folder (C:\mame)

    3. Download the roms and stick the still zipped files in the c:\mame\roms folder.

    4. The readme file will tell you the "directory" name for the game you want to play. Go to a DOS prompt and type

    mame [dirname]

where [dirname] represents the directory name for the game.

    5. Also keep in mind that you may need to download the parent rom file as well.

    6. You may also have to download sound samples and/or artwork. They go into their respective folders.

    Good luck!
