  3. .ts or .m2t or similar are MPEG2 Transport Stream files which usually comes from DVB recorders or HDV cameras...You can watch those files in VLC and MPlayer...

  6. thanks for following this hread

Its a television show from Down Under. Ive seen others that Came Over in other formats but this One got posted to an HDTV group in .ts and wasn't posted to the Peons group as a smaller file: about 500mb vs 4 GB.

is there a way to know if its encrypted and not justs a download error?
    it did decompress with MacPar

  7. If MPlayer, VLC and MPEG Streamclip cannot decode it then its a good chance that something is wrong with that file...As you said, either is corrupted during download or its encrypted during recording /usual in these days/...

The only way to check it is to open it in some HEX editor and examine it...But you should know what to look...Or maybe if you have similar file from same source then you can compare headers...

One more thing you can try is to try to play it on the dark side - e.g. on PC...

it probably means that it's a H.264 transport stream (<---yes, such a thing exists). it's also very difficult finding a player that can decode it and it's even harder finding an app that can open it. try avidemux, i have had great success using it to open H.264 TS files that everything else chokes on.

  9. thanks for these tips

I downloaded avidemux and it would not open for me. Im on an IntelMP running 10.4.+

    is that the problem?

is there any way to look at this .ts file and find out more about it?

    curious isn't it?

    cheers
