Any application with feature similar of Pinnacle's "Smart Capture"

Pinnacle Studio 9 plus has a very useful feature called Smart Capture: You can capture DV video in very low quality format , edit it and when its time to produce your movie the program recaptures the necessary footage automatically from the original DV tapes (based on time code) in full resolution . This way you can have 50 or more hours of video in your hard disk . The Pinnacle guys remove this unique feature from version 10 !!! And now i must purchase a hard disk of 1000GB to do my job!
Does anyone knows if there is another video editing application that has a similar feature?

Why not just revert back to Pinnacle Studio 9?

If you need to wade through hours of capture to pick the few minutes of interest, then this is still a good feature. For most it is no longer needed as drive sizes increase. I agree that you should keep v9 for this purpose. Nobody else at the consumer level is doing this.

yes i want to have hours of video cause i make compilations of the video footage i have shot and scanning all the time the mini dv tapes is not comfortable. So as i understand the only solution is Pinnacle Studio 9 . I wanted to try something else because the version i have (9.4 plus) is very buggy and its crashing all the time, forcing me to save almost every 4-5 actions i take... Thanks anyway for your help

Have you looked to see if Liquid Edition does this (it is less buggy), and you can pick it up on ebay for a decent price if you are patient.
