  1. I bought this nice, compact dvd player over 2 years ago at a Sams Club for $39. and was surprised to find that it played any disk that I put in it, including home made slide shows on cd-rw and cd-r disks. Last year I finally found the dvd-300 again at Best Buy and bought it for $39. with a $10. rebate. However, this one doesn't play the homemade disks and has a different menu, but the model is the same, (or so it seems). I also noticed that the front panel on the first player notes that it plays DTS and that logo is not on the second player. Anyone know why the same model, same player won't do the same job? Has anyone had a similar problem and would changing the brand of cd help? Thanks

The one I bought (no DTS logo) has difficulty with most DVDR media. It just sits there "loading". It plays commercial DVD ok including PAL DVD.
