  1. Ok, I have been requested to build a new system for someone. It needs extensive AV editing ability but it needs to be as simple as possible. So before someone says get a Mac, I was looking at the Canopus ADVC110 or ADVC300. Primarily the device will be used for Analog to Digital conversions, with some digital video editing from his camcorder also coming in to play. Extensive audio support is a plus. He still has working reel to reel units to conver music from..

So any suggestions as to simple software for either of these units? Any preference between the two? Anyone got some no copyrighted video samples of captures from the analog sources on either?

    Thanks!

Vegas Movie Studio from Sony ot Premiere Elements from Adobe. They are both aimed at the beginner, but with enough features to take them through to intermediate level editing. After that they both have big brother packages (Vegas and Premiere respectively) for when the editor is ready to move up.

Personal choice would be Vegas, as it is has some of the best audio capabilities of any editor.

As for the units themselves, pretty much anything that can transfer from a DV camera can transfer from these units. This includes both of the packages mention above, as well as stand alone transfer tools like WinDV or Scenalizer Live.

Depending on the quality of the source tapes, you may also need to consider a new VHS desk, and a Time Base Corrector (TBC)
