  1. I get the same thing with mine in Windows 2000. Some avi's will play but others won't play in any player that I use.

  2. sounds like a codec problem... WMP 7 should still play anything WMP6.4 played. get the DivX 3.11 alpha codec ( http://www.divx-digest.com) and the smr patch (www.smr-usenet.com) and install them and it should clear up your problem.

    incidentally you can install WMP6.4 and use your folder options dialog to set it as the default viewer while still having WMP7 installed. 6.4 is the last version with the clean and simple non-resource-hogging interface.
