So what features are most important to you in a video game? Graphics? Sound? Gameplay? Multiplayer features? Downloadable content?
For me I'd say gameplay still ranks number one. The crummiest of the old 8 bit games in terms of style points are still some of the best games becuase the controls are so fluid.
My personal ranking:
Gameplay
Sound
Graphics
Internet play
How about you????

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Gameplay-- every time. In fact, bigger, better, flashier graphics is one of my pet peeves. Who gives a hoot?
Starcraft-- still my favorite after all these years. 'nuff saidEven a broken clock is right twice a day. -
Yeah, gameplay. I even still pull out my old Infocom text-adventure games to play now and then. :P

Gameplay. Thanks to emulators, I can still enjoy the games of the era where lack of gfx/sfx had to be compensated for with game play. Nowadays, it's all too easy to cover up lack of gameplay/originality with GB of pretty gfx and sound, that loses the wow factor after first view.

That it goes away and leaves me alone. Sorry people but I just don't play computer games, so does that make me a sad person?
BTW am I the only person who doesn't play pooter games?Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity. -

If it isn't first person perspective, the graphics, game play etc... don't matter.

Gameplay of course. It's also a bonus if it has two-player gameplay. I love sound too. That adds more to the game than graphics to me. But as someone already said, nothing else matter without good gameplay. I still love the classics from the late 70's and 80's.

According to my son being the character you want is the most important, in many games you can't do that. I add this on my own have extensive cheats!!! for hard or dead end situations.

I'm with Duchess.
I Don't play games, I grew up (so to speak) before computers/games were around. -
I love to use game-enhancers to see what weird things the game can do.

thanks for nothing.
I'm sick of 'pretty' games with broken gameplay mechanics and a total gaming experience of 4 hours...
but as long as idiots keep buying them, developers and publishers will keep putting them out and expecting gamers to accept them as the norm."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

As I am not 100% interested in video games it has to be how easy and addictive the game is.Graphics and sound dont matter much to me if the game is too painfully boring eg having to use nearly every button of the keyboard to even play it or a strategic game.
I still prefer Sonic The Hedgehog over some of the flashy games of today. Some of the games I used to play on my Spectrum in the 80's as a child I prefer to todays.~Luke~ -
I think its all important to creat a well rounded game. LOL. It makes the playing experience better.

Gameplay.
Take that away and the game is worthless, i personally prefer using emulators because the majority of current games focus more on graphics than gameplay. -
yup.
except I use an actual NES, SNES, and N64. never really got into the Sega systems..."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
