I'm encoding video files to mpeg. My problem lies in media player classic. Media player classic suddenly says cannot render file when I play avi(huffyuv codec) and avi(xvid codec) I need to re install the codec everytime this happens any suggestions or solutions to solve my problem?

Don't use codec packs. They lead to problems like this. Install the individual codecs you need.

My physiology on codec is I only have installed exactly what I need and what I use, nothing else. Life has been far better. ok

I would try to uninstall that codec pack and every program that came with it for starters. You can start by looking in the Add/Remove programs list. Next you can, with XP, click "control panel, sound speech and audio devices, sound and audio devices, the hardware tab, scrool down to audio codec - then click properties. You can also scrool down to video codec and click properties, and view all the codec on your system. It has a remove button but I always try to remove the offending codec by other means (ie add/remove).

There are other programs you can use to manage your codec like RadLight Filter Manager, DXMan, and others. Filter Manager I have used.

Also a good idea is to install and use GSpot. With it you can tell if you have the proper filters installed to play the file and mainly which ones will be used.

    Good luck.

edit: I forgot the most important thing. System Restore. Go back to a time before you installed that pack. Good luck.
