Hello, I downloaded a video in PAL format of a Bob Marley video fron '79 and '80. The video consisted of four titles.

I split the video with DVDshrink into the first two and second two titles to fit on two DVD5's.

I then used isoedit to switch to NTSC, and when I burned there was a green plasma border on the top third of the screen and a small green border on the bottom.

Any idea why?? I know it's not on the video...

I guess border isn't really the right term since it actually covers a significant portion of the video itself, not just as if I switched from widescreen to full.

I also tried switching the aspect ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 with the same results. Thanks so much for any advice!

This is what happens when you don't actually convert the video to NTSC, just try to fake it. True conversion from PAl to NTSC requires resizing and re-encoding the video. These simple patch methods don't really do anything to video, they just to to fool the player. Some players can be fooled, many cannot. Obviously yours is one that gets confused.

A few more methods of PAL>NTSC conversion: https://www.videohelp.com/convert#4;41

BTW, this can be one of the more complex conversions. You might have to do it with one of the 'long ways' to get good quality.

I use ConvertXToDVD if I want an easy way and it handles most formats fairly well. If not, then look to the link I posted and try some other methods.

The green sounds like a problem with the codec that plays the video. This is more common when playing the video on a computer. Are you seeing the green on a standalone DVD player output?

    And welcome to our forums.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info...

Yeah, it only plays like that on my dvd player, not on the computer.

I'll try to do the true convertion...thanks for the links!
