    Hi people!
I'm having a big problem when capturing video from a VHS tape in a VCR source. My captured videos are always flickering. From a DVD or TV source, there is no problem, only from VCR. I tried with 4 VCR's (Sharp and Semp models), and they all have the same problem. My capture card is a ATI AIW Radeon 8500.
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem? A TBC can fix it, maybe?
I uploaded a video to YouTube for a better understading. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1_UG96MN1w
Any suggestion would be welcome. Tks in advance.

  2. I don't see any flickering except for at the bottom of the video. Is this what you mean? If so, it is normal with consumer analog video equipment. It is important to realise that when you view video on a TV, about 5 to 10% of the image is missing due to the overscan. When you watch it on your computer, you see everything.

Maybe I didn't used the right word. The image is good, but it has intermittent flashes... it is quite noticeable between 16 and 19 seconds. But occurs many other times.

  4. Oh...for some reason I can only watch the first 1 or 2 seconds and then it stops.

  6. Hi - that link worked okay.

My guess would be the camera flashes (it seems a lot of other people were taking photos with flash) are affecting the automatic exposure of your camcorder.

Hmmmm.. but this happens in almost all VHS videos that I try to capture... Home made videos, video clips, movies... It is not only in this video..

  8. Oh....I see.

What does the VHS video look like if you watch it on a TV (i.e., playing from the VHS recorder to a TV)?

On TV this problem doesn't happen. The video looks OK.
