Hi, I just recieved several .avi files that I need to review for a project, and I read that ffmpegx can convert these formats to something viewable by quicktime or vlc... However, when I try to open this file up in ffmpegx, it says it's 'unrecognized' in the "from" field. If I click on info, then it says: video [FPS1] 800x600 24bpp 30.000 fps 78722.6kbps (9609.7 kbyte/s)

After trying to convert this file regardless, I get:

Requested video codec family [fraps] (vfm=vfw) not available.
    Enable it at compilation.
    Read DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html!
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x31535046.

Anyway, I am not sure what DOCS/HTML/en/codecs.html is referring to... And I am further unsure how to enable it at compilation, especially since I believe I downloaded a precompiled version.

    Can anyone help me?

From the ffmpeg website: "FFmpeg has a Fraps FPS1 video decoder. This video codec has 3 different versions and this new decoder supports the first 2 versions so far."

    - Try a --ffmpeg preset; do not decode with QT.
    - If you have the one version of FPS1 that ffmpeg cannot decode, you may be out of luck with this tool.
    - Mencoder/mplayer doesn't have native FPS1 decoding (yet), don't use this combo for decoding on Mac OS.

    Perhaps DivX Doctor might help?

No, DivX Doctor doesn't do anything about video.
